Regional M&E Review of National HIV Response Started


Nepalgunj, 2014 June 18.

Regional M&E Review workshop for Far and Mid Western Region has been started in Nepalgunj from 17 June 2014. The workshop will last for 3 days and regional review of national response will be held for another 2 days.

According to Statistical Officer of NCASC Mr. Bir Rawal, major objectives of the M&E review are to verify national level HIV data reported by districts, to review the progress of HIV response at districts and regional level and update information sheets, to identify district level issues, challenges, best practices related to M&E of HIV responses and prepare actions for improvement and to share recent updates on National HIV responses to stakeholders at regional level through special capacity building sessions. In the review, actions taken on issues of last year’s review workshop will also be shared and discussed.

According to Dinesh Bista; M&E Associate of NCASC, initial 3 days workshop is held to verify the district fact sheet and explore and discuss the major issues, challenges and possible solutions for M&E in the district and region for national HIV response. For this M&E review workshop, DACC Coordinator, HIV Focal Person and Statistical Officer/Assistant from each district and HIV Focal Person, Statistical Officer, Health Education Officer from each Regional Health Directorate have participated. Similarly, 2 days regional review of national response will be organized by Regional Health Directorate on 20 & 21 June 2014. In the regional review, DHO/DPHO and DACC Coordinator from each district, Regional HIV Focal Person, Regional Statistical Officer will participate. 

Participants from 24 districts of Far and Mid Western Regions are participating the review workshop. Under Secretary of NCASC Mr. Bal Krishna Karki and Senior Public Health Officer/Strategic Information Unit Focal Person Mr. Shambhu Kafle gave their opening remarks. They said that review will provide important inputs and feedbacks to national program to be considered during designing and implementation of the program for coming days.
